Mission: To promote the independence, safety, dignity, and well-being of older adults.
The Greater Ishpeming Commission on Aging is a private non-profit corporation that advocates for and provides services to those sixty years and older who reside in the city of Ishpeming, and the townships of Ishpeming, Ely, Tilden, Humboldt, Champion, Michigamme and Republic. The goal of our services and programs is to promote the independence, safety, dignity, and well-being of older adults. Services are provided to allow them to remain living independently in their homes and avoid or delay unnecessary placement in long term care facilities.
The Ishpeming Multi-Purpose Senior Center is operated by the Greater Ishpeming Commission on Aging (GICOA). We are funded by the Marquette County Senior Citizens Millage, Region 11 Area Agency on Aging, Federal and State grants, United Way, and the generous donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations within our community.
