Who We Are

Mission: To put God’s love into action, bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Founded by Millard and Linda Fuller in Americus, Georgia, in 1976, Habitat for Humanity today operates around the globe. Through the work of Habitat, thousands of low-income families have found new hope in the form of affordable housing. Churches, community groups and others have joined together to successfully tackle a significant social problem–decent housing for all.

Our affiliate was established in 1995. We currently serve Alger, Luce, Schoolcraft and W. Mackinac counties.  Our Habitat affiliate is the only one in the state of MI to house their ReStore, offices, and Volunteer Center under one roof.

What We Do

Our affiliate operates on revenue generated from our ReStore (thrift store), fundraisers, and monetary donations. The funds are used to do exterior home repairs for hard-working families who need a hand-up. In order to keep costs down, we provide supervised volunteer labor.

Volunteer opportunities include our ReStore, construction, fundraising events, Board of Directors, Committees, office duties, gardening, and cleaning & maintenance. We appreciate our volunteers and can find an opportunity for any interest that you have.
