We are in the middle of constructing the new Disc golf course, Buck Buchanan Memorial, across the river from Powder Mill. Travel about 1/4 mile up 550, past Powder Mill Road, and turn into the new parking lot on the right, near the yellow swing arm gate. (This is before the railroad tracks).
We have a need for general work activities similar to landscaping work.
Level, fill, and tamp/compact tee pad areas.
Shovel and cut roots out of the way.
Install tee pad turf material to frames.
Walk the fairways and rake, or otherwise remove sticks and debris, throwing it well off the fairways.
Smooth out and level ruts and bumps in the fairway left from construction.
Haul material and gravel to tee area for signs (posts, concrete).
Help move poles and build a bridge.
Shovel and fill in low spots around the parking lot posts.
Help clean up the welcome/practice area.
Mow and string trim overgrown areas of the course.
Use wheelbarrows or dump cart to spread woodchips on the greens and around tee areas.
Additional opportunities for individuals with equipment like track loaders, tractors with buckets, ATV with drags, etc. to finish the major and finishing work on the course.
Tasks can be done at your own pace and time without much oversight. Work days are supervised focused efforts, which are often weather dependent. Check our Facebook page for current info and conditions.
