As you know, Alzheimer’s disease impacts not only those diagnosed, but also their families, loved ones, friends, and colleagues. It touches all of us in one way or another.

Please volunteer to support the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Friday, September 26, 9:45-11:15 AM at the Ishpeming Senior Center. Assist with registration, flower handouts, and banner setup for the Ishpeming Walk to End Alzheimer's. Our Marquette Walk to End Alzheimer's will be the next day.

This event is so much more than a walk—it’s an uplifting and inspiring experience that brings together a community united in compassion, connection, and hope. As the country’s largest support group of its kind, it’s also our annual fundraiser, so we’ll be collecting donations at the event and could really use help with that as well.

Please volunteer a few hours to support the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 27 at Ellwood A Mattson Lower Harbor Park. Event coordinator Kimberly LeTourneau will be on-site starting at 8:00 AM, and we’ll kick off the event with:

·  Registration at 9:00 AM

·  Walk begins at 10:00 AM (warm up and dance routines at 9:45 AM)

·  Clean-up and take-down by 11:30 AM

Volunteers will sit on points on the trail to maintain racer safety.

We need help setting up the orange fencing that lines the trail. This is a physical job for the most part, pounding stakes and tying down the fence. Both sides of a 2 mile trail.

Help the teams get from where they are set up to the starting line and from the finish line back to camp. This is a physical job, so plan accordingly! 

All weather, please dress for the weather and plan accordingly! No Ice cleats or loose clothing!

We need folks to make sure the food table stays stocked, direct traffic, and just generally point folks in the right direction (even if it's to the people who have the answers!)

Held in our Kids Gym, this engaging music class introduces toddlers to rhythm, movement, and simple instruments in a playful group setting. It’s a great way to support early development while creating joyful experiences through music.

Toddler Time is a playful and active indoor program held in our gymnasium where little ones can run, ride bikes, and explore in a safe and engaging environment—especially when it’s too cold to play outside!

Volunteer Responsibilities Include:

Volunteers across Marquette County are needed to help with the AmeriCorps RSVP Triad Lifetracker Program.  Lifetracker is a program that can track people who have wandered.  Volunteers are needed to set up the caregiver and client with their Lifetracker bracelet and then change the batteries on the client's unit every two months.  Clients may be adults with dementia or children who may wander.

Volunteers are provided with training, all supplies, support, and mileage can be reimbursed.  

Looking for individuals to donate handmade or store bought bird feeders to display outside the window of the dining room for entertainment for seniors who come in for coffee and activities! 

Caring and confident individuals looking to help provide socialization to homebound seniors. 

Individuals available to transport seniors from their homes to grocery shop and back. Need to dedicate 2-3 hours to events.

Box office volunteers are the face of Fresh Coast. The box office serves as the place to go to have festival questions answered. If you love chatting with people, this is the spot for you! 

This position does not have the ability to watch films during the shift. 

Responsibilities include:

Fresh Coast Film Festival attendees will have to option to purchase beverages at the outdoor film screenings on Friday and Saturday evening. If you are interested in public safety and surveillance, this is the role for you!

Box office volunteers are the face of Fresh Coast. The box office serves as the place to go to have festival questions answered. If you love chatting with people, this is the spot for you! 

This position does not have the ability to watch films during the shift. 

Responsibilities include:

Assist with making sandwiches, or light meals (like Mac & Cheese, Casseroles, Mashed Potatoes, Etc.) that can be utilized by Residents and Shelter Guests on a "self-serve" basis. The Janzen House has all the supplies needed (If a volunteer wishes to produce different or more complicated meals, we would accept that help as well, just let us know)

18th Annual Run for Recovery 5k Fun Run, proudly presented by TruNorth Federal Credit Union is taking place Wednesday, September 17th, in Sault Ste. Marie.

The 5k FUN-Run supports the GLRC Foundation's Compassionate Care Fund.   We are in need of volunteers for help with setup, course markings, water station at turn around, clean up, registration, parking, and runner support. 

We also need professional volunteers to help with on site physio/chiropractic services and Sports Medicine/EMT

Marquette Maritime Museum and Marquette Harbor Lighthouse are looking for volunteers to give interpretive tours of the Lighthouse as well as tours of the Maritime Museum, which focuses on the history of Marquette, Lake Superior, and the Great Lakes.

Delivering Meals on Wheels to participants in Marquette County. Delivery routes available in Marquette, Gwinn or the West-End. Pick up prepared and packed meals from Lost Creek or Gwinn kitchen then deliver our hot nutritious meals to homebound seniors along with friendly conversation. Volunteer from one to five days a week, working 2-3 hours, 9:30-12:30.

Volunteers are needed to help with various duties once the mobile pantry arrives, such as, setting up tables, packing bags/boxes, loading food into vehicles, registering clients, parking lot detail and any other need that may arise. Shifts are generally from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

Rest rooms are available and masks, gloves, sanitizing items and vests are all provided.

Please dress appropriately for weather conditions, as all events are held outdoors. Bringing a beverage, snack and face masks are recommended.

Food distribution is a physical activity that can involve bending, lifting, and twisting. If you would like to volunteer but have existing neck or back issues, please notify a Rotary leader on site, to identify tasks that may be more safe for you.

Help our staff at the Warming Center located 447 W Washington. Volunteers are needed to help cook, clean, prepare, and serve meals. This is a wonderful experience for those looking to get face to face interaction with our guests, staff, and fellow volunteers as well as a first-hand look at the fulfilling work we do at our shelter.

CIP is seeking experienced Direct Care Workers, individuals who have worked in home and community-based settings, to serve as mentors to new Direct Care Workers. CIP provides training and resources to help recruit and retain DCWs and provides resources and guidance that help reduce barriers to employment success and enhance wellbeing of the cared for, and caregivers.

Looking to volunteer for Days of Service but can't go to an organization? CAAM has an opportunity that could work for you!

Help to cheer up a homebound senior's day with a handwritten card or letter. Volunteers would write cards/letters to unspecified seniors. Set up materials in your break room or have arts and crafts time with your children! Feel free to be creative, add jokes, artwork, stickers, etc. any thing to make your cards unique.

Companion Volunteers work to provide support directly to patients and families. To ensure that all volunteers are equipped for the challenge of working with those dealing with a life limiting illness, we require that volunteers complete orientation and training sessions. It’s important that volunteers understand the philosophy of hospice and are aware of the specific ways we work to serve the community. Volunteers spend their visits being present, listening, helping with errands or light household tasks or providing short respite opportunities for caregivers.
