PLEASE SELECT SHIFT: Friday night is bringing teams in, Saturday morning is sending them out.

Chatham Checkpoint is the half-way rest stop for Midnight Run mushers. Teams arrive at the MSU Farm in Chatham late Friday night into very early Saturday morning and take a mandatory 5-1/2 hour rest before heading back to the finish line in Marquette.

Volunteers assist with merchandise sales and silent auction. In addition, volunteers serve as race ambassadors, providing information to the public.

Volunteers perform a variety of functions for the checkpoint including set-up, timing, dog handling, food service, and checkpoint cleanup. Timber Products is an assisted checkpoint for UP200 teams both upbound to Grand Marais and downbound toward Marquette.

Set up barriers and fencing prior to the race start and remove them for storage after the last team has left the starting gate. Setup Friday 11:00am – 2:00pm; Final Setup 5:00pm – until Start of Race. Take-down (fences and barricades) Friday after last team has left the starting gate until approximately 11 PM
