Who We Are
Mission: To improve the economic security and well-being of individuals and families in Alger and Marquette Counties by providing education, housing and human service programs through community collaborations.
Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
What We Do
We have Housing Services programs to help with emergency housing, rapid rehousing, prevention of housing loss, and Supportive Services for Veteran Families. Our Education programs serve a variety of ages from 0-5 years old with Head Start, Early Head Start, and Great Start Readiness Programs. Community Nutrition Services provide Congregate dining sites throughout the County, Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors, and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program to provide food boxes to low-income seniors. The MI-HOPE program can help those experiencing financial hardship with energy-efficient home repairs and upgrades, such as appliance, water heater or furnace repair or replacement.
