Who We Are
Mission: To promote healthy ecosystems and communities by providing permanent legal protection and ecological management of conservation lands and by engaging the public in the protection and enjoyment of these lands.
The Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and nationally accredited land trust through the Land Trust Alliance. The Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy (UPLC) has worked with community partners to conserve ecologically valuable land across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula since 1999.
What We Do
UPLC legally protects land across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan by managing, monitoring, and establishing nature preserves, reserves, or conservation easements. We do so for many reasons, whether that be for the wildlife habitat they provide, the natural resources they hold, the community space and recreational opportunities they offer, or the cultural and historical significance associated with the land (to just name a few!). In addition, UPLC provides educational programs that allow community members to learn more about the ecosystem, natural resources, and history surrounding our local landscape.
